Advanced Placement Literature

Required summer reading:

• The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
• Beowulf in the translation by Burton Raffel

Following selections from The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer in the modern translation by Nevill Coghill-  

• "The Prologue"
• "The Pardoner's Tale"
• The Wife of Bath's Tale"

All of these selections are available online. You will be tested on these books during the first week of school. In addition, you are required to complete a Major Works Data Sheet on The Kite Runner.  There is a template for the data sheet below.  

We will be reading 6-8 novels this year and studying many poems.  You will be writing bi--level course, so expect rigor.  

Your final summer assignment is attached below.  You are to create your own, original tone word study guide that you will use throughout the year. Please bring a TYPED and PRINTED copy to class the first day of school and please be prepared to upload a copy to canvas (for plagiarism and AI detection).  I hope you have an enjoyable summer, and I will see you in August.
